25 Years of Proven, Real World Performance
Stevens Hypalon is a reinforced, hot air weldable membrane based on DuPont Performance Elastomer's Hypalon®, chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) synthetic rubber.
In its initial, manufactured form, Stevens Hypalon® is thermoplastic in nature, which allows it to be hot-air welded. After installation and exposure to the environment, the membrane's individual polymer components cross link forming a highly stable, synthetic rubber material. Once cured to its ultimate strength, Stevens Hypalon shows little change in extensibility and provides high resistance to a broad range of chemicals.
ApplicationsStevens Hypalon® is ideally suited for commercial, industrial and institutional applications, especially where strong chemical resistance is required. The material is available in white and light gray (special order), nominal 45 mil (1.14 mm) and 60 mil (1.52) thickness in standard 76.5-inch wide rolls x 100-feet long (1.9m wide x 34m long).
Attachment OptionsStevens Hypalon membranes can be installed using several methods, including:
- Mechanically Attached
- Fully Adhered
- Stone Ballasted
- Paver Ballasted
- Vented Roof System (VRS)
White Stevens Hypalon membranes meet the EPA Energy Star Roof Products Program requirements (Initial Solar Reflectance of 85%/Aged 77%) and are California Title 24 compliant.
Substrate CompatibilityStevens Hypalon® is suitable for direct contact over:
- EPDM
- Modified Bitumen
- Bituminous BUR
- CPE
- Asphalt
- Aged Coal-Tar Pitch
In addition, Stevens Hypalon® membranes are manufactured in an ISO 9001:2000 registered facility.
Model Building CodesIn addition Stevens Hypalon has international code approvals including Underwriters Laboratories of Canada, and German DIN 16726.
Fire and Wind ResistanceStevens Hypalon® is classified UL Class A by UL and Approved Class 1A by Factory Mutual for effectiveness against fire exposure originating from outside the building. A Class A fire rating is available for high slope applications.
Every roll of Stevens Hypalon® bears the UL Label and Classification Marking, as well as the FM approval mark. This assures the specifier, owner and contractor that every square foot of Stevens Hypalon® is manufactured under the strict criteria of these third-party quality assurance organizations.
Mechanically attached Stevens Hypalon® has passed FM testing for 1-90 Wind Uplift resistance. Fully adhered Stevens Hypalon® can also meet a 1-735 Windstorm Classification rating under specific conditions.
Warranty OptionsStevens offers warranties on successfully completed roofs installed by a Stevens Authorized Applicator. These warranties range in scope from coverage of the materials only to that of the entire system assembly for a time of 5 years up to, for some systems, 20 years.
