The majority of wind-related roof failures occur at the roof’s edge, and most are directly associated with inadequate design and/or securement of the metal edge flashing. For this reason, Stevens engaged in a joint development effort with Metal Era, Inc., a leading manufacturer of roof edge metal systems. The result: some of the strongest, most reliable roof-edge metal systems in the industry. In addition to providing resistance against wind uplift forces, pre-engineered Stevens Edge Metal Systems also provide protection against water leakage because they do not require penetrations of the membrane at deck level. Equally important, Stevens Edge Metal Systems offer an aesthetically pleasing look that compliments the building’s overall exterior design.
Intended for use on mechanically attached, fully adhered, certain vented roof systems (VRS), the Stevens Total Roofing System, and some ballasted roof installations, pre-engineered Stevens Edge Metal Systems meet FM approvals for wind-uplift and have been designed to offer protection against roof-edge damage due to high winds. Each carries a warranty equal to the term of the Stevens Roofing System warranty. All Stevens Edge Metal Systems may be used in conjunction with any Stevens membrane.
For optimum design freedom, designers and specifiers may choose between a Kynar® based coating, or an anodized or mill finish for the project. Kynar fluoro-polymer coatings are high grade architectural finishes that provide excellent resistance to degradation caused by nature’s elements and airborne contaminants. Anodized coatings are aluminum oxide coatings that actually become part of the surface of the metal, and cannot peel off.
Stevens Roofing Systems currently offers four pre-engineered edge metal systems:
-
Stevens Edge, a fascia system for most installations.
-
Stevens Fascia, a superior fascia system for installations requiring maximum wind up-lift resistance.
-
Stevens Cap, a snap-on coping system.
-
Stevens System 200 Fascia, a fascia system designed for use with Stevens Stone ballasted Roofing System.
